Brooks Team Professional Titanium Review
Brooks Team Professional sets the standard for the classic style that Brooks Saddles have built their reputation on. Extraordinary craftsmanship can be seen at every point along the Brooks Team Professional and is exemplified by the oversize copper rivets and the skived leather sides that set these saddles apart from the ordinary. The Team Professional comes in a ladies version as well and is denoted with an "S" on the end of the name.
The Brooks Team Professional Titanium saddles are available with chrome or copper steel seat rails or you can opt for the titanium rails to save weight. The Team Professional Ladies model that comes with titanium rails is marketed as the Finesse. The Brooks Team Professional is available in both titanium and chrome steel versions and we would recommend the steel for the Clydesdales over 200lbs.

This saddle is a pretty narrow saddle (260 x 160mm), so if you are a recreational rider who mostly "sits" on your saddle, or rides an upright bike such as a mountain bike or a 3-speed, the B-17 which is both longer and wider (280 x 170mm) and which is brooks's most comfortable saddle without springs, is a better choice.
This saddle looks awesome, and has been in production for at least 70 years. The quality is superbe and the leather is much thicker than cheaper knockoff saddles. With proper care this saddle will last at least 30 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes second. This model was used on just about every racing bicycle in the 1950-1980 era.
When riding on bumps, you have to tighten your hamstring muscles and take up the shocks in your knees with a Team Pro saddle. The saddle won't absorb shocks or vibrations for you. If you are not accustomed to "standing" (so 2/3rds of your weight is on your legs, not your bum) on rough pavement, you will find this saddle unacceptable. When I take mine on 50-miles rides, I sometimes come home with a numb pelvic bone.
On the plus side, the saddle is narrow, is chamfered, and the leather is very slick, so you are unlikely to get chafe marks when riding all day long at high (110-120 rpm) cadence.

| This is the nicest saddle I've seen. Top quality in terms of design and function. Plus, the leather is so smooth that there is no rubbing or chafing. Plus, it looks superb on my vintage bike. |

Brooks Team Professional Titanium Review, 4.7 out of 5 based on 3 ratings
I wanted a performance saddle but not the big bucks that the Finesse Titanium rails sells for. I don’t think a few ounces would matter that much to me on weight so I went with the Team Professional S which is a ladies geometry chrome rail version of the Finesse.
No Titanium rails and I saved about 100 bucks if I remember right. Anyways…great saddle, love the Brooks style and design and the question is beyond reproach.
Definitely recommend.
I bought the Brooks Team Pro (black with steel rails) about 10 years ago and only used it once or twice. My other saddle has been a Selle Italia Flite Titanium, which I have ridden on for a few thousand miles. Just yesterday I did a 2-hour ride on the Brooks and I am extremely impressed by the comfort and surprised that I have absolutely zero pain or discomfort a day after riding. I forgot to mention that this was the first time that I have ridden for more than 2 years. Normally, when riding with the Selle saddle, I would have been quite sore both during and after the ride.
FWIW: I ride a custom fitted, by Tom Kellogg himself, Merlin Extralight, full Dura-Ace, and Mavic Classic Pros, and now a Brooks Team Pro.
I did apply a few light coats of Obenauf’s Heavy Duty Leather Preserver after warming the saddle in a warm oven. This mostly helps with keeping the leather from drying out and for slight water repellant. Doesn’t soften the leather at all.
I highly recommend the Brooks Team Pro.
“Light” this saddle is not so “weight weenie” go look elsewhere. However, what this saddle does bring to the party is a very comfortable and distinctive appearence to your bike. I have used one for about 2 yearts which is fitted to my titanium hybrid and it looks great. More importantly is is really confortable. I got the one with steel rails in brown and I suppose my only grip is that I didn’t buy a model with the hoops at the back for attaching the Books Tool Wrap. I overcame this with cable-ties. Overall then – I would definately recommend this saddle. If I was doing it all over again, I might spend a little more and get myself the Swift with Ti rails or maybe even the Swallow that Brooks reserve only their finest pelts for
Happy riding!
