Selle Italia SLC Kit Carbonio Gel Flow Bike Saddle
Before we start in on the SLC Carbonio, I have to just say that I am a HUGE fan of Selle Italia saddles. The look, the feel, the design, the cycling heritage all just call out to me and I just love em. Now that said, if htey produced a bad saddle then I would say so, but typically I have found that users are not disappointed with their choice of Selle Italis saddles, so let's get on with it.
The Selle Italia SLC Carbonio just oozes "sexy" right out of the package. The Carbon rails and leather cover combined with the space age design just talk to me. The center groove down the center is designed to do two things, it allows a certain amount of "flex" so when pedaling the seat doesn't chafe or rub but still provides support AND it relieves pressure on your perineum area. If you've ever experienced the pleasure of being "numb" down there for a few hours after a ride then you will know how important that is.
The downside of this saddle is that it wouldn't work for me personally. I have wide sit bones and the design of the SLC Carbon doesn't play well with wide sit bones, so for me personally it's a torture device but if you are blessed with narrow sit bones then the SLC Carbon gets RAVE reviews from all of my riding partners that have used it for any length of time. I'd be cautious if you're a "Clydesdale" meaning over 200lbs as the carbon rails and lightweight shell may not play nice. I am not aware of any weight restrictions from Selle Italia but holding it, just seems like you'd want to be careful.
So all of this said, depending on who you are then the Selle Italia SLC Carbon saddle could be the perfect choice for you. It's lightweight, sexy and comfortable to ride as long as your anatomy matches. Men tend to have narrower sit bones than women so as long as you are down in the 143 or narrower club then you should be fine. I'm jealous as I really dig this saddle.
